john deere snowmobile driveline breakdown?
i am looking for repair pics or diagrams for a john deere jdx8 snowmobile, to do drive line work from the clutch to the track drive. is there anywhere to find it online? i have looked with no luck. thanks mike
its a 1974 and they are worth alot restored, we have everything finished except the clutch bearing housing, and releasing front track drive tension to replace chain. we are veteran mechanics, and know much more than the dealerships.
if you are talking about the jackshaft and chain case you DO NOT have to loosen or remove the track. jackshaft bearings were common sizes and available from any auto parts store as far as a manual some of the generic old chilton style manuals had some info for those old machines but they were not very descriptive. best bet is to find an old dealer or contact a antique snowmobile club if you need to work on the track drive shaft just loosen the track(unload springs in rear and loosen adjusters)
