Help, i have found an egg, i think it's hatching?
Omg.
I found an egg.
I have had it for 2 days now.
I have been in contacts with the law agency, and it isn't illegal and i have permission to attempt to hatch this egg, just so you don't tell me it's illegal.
All i need is, someone who has either done it before or has experience in breeding and hatching birds.
I believe it's a French Partridge (Red Legged)
My brother found it and it's in the airing cupboard (i know what i am doing in that department.)
Anyway, it never had a crack on it when we found it, but now it does.
I think it's hatching, what do i do if it hatches and it's healthy, i.e food, bedding, care?
& what are it's chances of serviving.
Plus, how long does it take for it to fully hatch out.
Only answer if you really know what your talking about.
Many thanks.
x
You need to keep it warm while you're waiting.
While you wait for it to hatch, get on the phone to a vet and find out where there is a good BIRD rehabber to take it to. Otherwise you will get to watch it die.
Well intentioned novices kill as many as they try to save. This requires experience and expertise.

What country are you in? A partridge is a member of the quail family. Quails, partridge, turkey, chickens are 'precocious'. They need to be brooded (kept warm) either by the mother or heat lamp.
They can eat chick/game bird starter but it must be crumbled into a smaller size. The chick will peck at anything that moves
so flicking the feed at it's toes will entice it to peck and begin eating.
Water must be in a very small, shallow receptacle. If the chick gets wet it will chill and die. It can also drown before you know it. A screw on lid, upside down and filled with pebbles or marbles is a good water dish. The chick can drink but can't get wet. You will have to show it the water by gently tipping the beak in the water to wet it
