How much is the 1885 edition of "Wake Robin" worth?
There is this person selling his antique, 1885 edition of "Wake Robin" by John Borroughs for 35 dollars. I am wondering if that's a fair price. Here are details pertaining to the condition of the book:
"Very good condition, sound binding and no writing. Some foxing from age, and minor wear to cover edges."

It's very easy to look on the Web and see what the asking price is for old books. One good place to look is http://www.abebooks.com
It looks like every 1885 printing of "Wake Robin" available through AbeBooks is going for under $35. Of course, you would have to pay shipping on top of the online asking price, so if you really want an 1885 edition of this book then it may be just as easy for you to buy the $35 book. But be aware that you could get a later edition for a lot less.
Don't expect to be able to turn around and sell this 1885 copy at a profit. This is not a particularly rare book, and the 1885 printing looks to be the third edition. (A first edition would be dated 1871.) But even if it were the first edition it still wouldn't be worth very much.
Actually, old books usually aren't worth very much. A lot of people come on Yahoo! Answers asking if some old book they found is valuable, and it very rarely is. Most old books are just old.
